Over Mijn Dak 2.0

Illustration for project Over Mijn Dak 2.0
Description

Over Mijn Dak (OMD) is a website/mobile app that offers people living near Schiphol an easy way to file complaints about noisy planes coming over their roofs. Version 1 has been operating for a few years now (overmijndak.ozv.nu). But its capacity is too low for the amount of users. And based on a survey among users we want to develop a new version (version 2) with slightly other functionalities.

Expected MVP

Functional requirements based on findings from a survey among OMD users (from 20 October, 2025, see appendix).

OMD must (among other things) be usable as a mobile app on iPhone and Android.

With the press of a button, you must be able to submit a complaint to BAS and Vliegherrie when a noisy aircraft passes overhead.

The complaint automatically includes: time, address (default or based on GPS), noise level (measured).

The user can add to the complaint: perceived noise level (noisy / extremely noisy), short description or a choice from: part of the day/time (I want to sleep and aircraft keep me awake), number (too many aircraft per hour), duration block (it does not stop and just keeps going).

OMD keeps track of how many complaints you have already submitted and prevents you from becoming a frequent complainer.

OMD automatically prepares daily complaints for periods based on configurable critical frequency and configurable critical altitude.

Before sending, the user can choose which critical period(s) of that day they want to complain about.

There is also an option to complain fully automatically about the first or longest critical period, or the longest critical period during the night.

Ranked options: 1. If a very noisy aircraft passes overhead, I want to be able to immediately press a button to submit a complaint to BAS.

2. Complaining to BAS should be as simple as possible.

3. I want my complaints to also be listed at vliegherrie.nl.

4. I want to prevent being seen by BAS as a frequent complainer so that my complaints no longer count.

5. I want noise values to be sent with my complaints to BAS.

6. I want to be able to choose a category of experienced nuisance for my complaints, e.g. very loud aircraft, many aircraft in a row, aircraft too low, too early, too late.

7. I want to be able to look back later at daily overviews of flights over my house.

8. I want a daily overview of specific flights so that I can submit targeted complaints to BAS.

9. I want a daily overview of periods about which I can submit a complaint to BAS.

10. I also want to be able to complain about flights at locations other than my home when I happen to be somewhere else.
