Educational Escape Game web app for Museum Visit

Illustration for project Educational Escape Game web app for Museum Visit
Description

Museum Speelklok in Utrecht is a unique museum showcasing mechanical self-playing musical instruments. We inspire wonder through music and technology. Currently, we’re working on a new exhibition that reveals how mechanical engineering is all around us—and essential to daily life.

In this project students will develop an interactive web-based escape game app for use during museum visits by secondary school students. The goal is to create an engaging educational experience using gamification and Augmented Reality (AR), where kids solve puzzles and complete tasks linked to museum objects to explore a specific theme. The students will build the app using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring it works smoothly on smartphones via a browser (no installation required). The app will include features such as QR-code or location-based triggers to activate tasks, a start screen with instructions, progress tracking (score/time), and a final results screen or certificate. The final product must be hostable on a subdomain of the museum’s existing website and meet basic security and compatibility requirements, which will be reviewed by the hosting provider.
