Domo© is an intuitive app that helps young people and adults develop greater self-awareness and make more conscious choices in daily life. It focuses on three reflective questions: ''What do I want?'', ''What can I do?'', and ''What do I do?''. With interactive features such as buttons, visual feedback, and sensory settings, the app encourages self-reflection and behavioral awareness. Research shows that digital interventions like Domo© are effective in increasing care capacity and mental resilience, which aligns with the growing demand for accessible mental health support. The app is user-friendly, playful, and customizable, and respects privacy and inclusivity. Effectiveness can be measured through user data (moments of reflection, scores) and qualitative feedback. Domo© is technically easy to implement on smartphones and suitable for broad application in healthcare, social welfare, and education. The app is being developed for a small-scale intercultural outpatient mental health clinic in Alphen aan den Rijn, which reflects Dutch society in 2025.
ℹ️ What is the Domo© app? The Domo app, an electronic magnifying glass or bubble blower, helps you make more conscious choices in your life. For example, why you use the app, or how you got to your appointment. You gain insight into: What you want. What you can do. What you actually do.
🔵🟡 IN: 1. What do you want ❤️? At the bottom of the front of the magnifying glass handle, you'll see two buttons: 🟢 Green: How well do you know what you really want in life? 🟡 Yellow: How confident are you that things will turn out well?
🔴🟢 IN: 2. What are you capable of 🧠? At the top of the front of the bubble blower handle, you'll see two other buttons: 🔵 Blue: Practical/objective energy (such as physical health, money).
🔴 Red: Personal/subjective energy (such as mental health, culture). ⚖️ The goal is to set all the dials to ''in balance'' by turning the dials. You'll review examples from your past, present, and future in which you were (un)aware of something. You decide whether it's for days, weeks, or years. As you turn the dial, you can take notes. The display at the top of the handle shows which setting the dial is in: ''0'' means completely in balance, ''5'' completely out of balance.
🔘 OUT: 3. What do you do 🌀? In the ''eye'' of the magnifying glass, you'll see a transparent colored bubble and a star in the center: The star is you. The bubble shows how aware you are of your behavior; this is your most important thought based on what you want and can do. Your most important thought, your focus, determines the direction of your life. The brighter the star (the more points) on the display at the top of the back of the magnifying glass handle, the larger the bubble, and the more aware you are. If the bubble is the same size (or larger) as the white circle of the magnifying glass's eye, the white light on the left edge will illuminate: you are making free choices (six star points: △ and ▽). If the bubble is the same size or smaller than the black circle, the black light will illuminate: your choices are bound (three star points: △ or ▽).
Senses and Details Use buttons on the back of the bubble handle to choose how you want to experience awareness: sight, smell, hearing, taste, or touch. In the demo version, only hearing works. Use the slider on the right edge of the magnifying glass's eye to increase (center) or decrease (top or bottom) reflection on yourself and your behavior. This determines the firmness of the bubble. Top = overview (deflection) Bottom = many details (deflection) Middle = both combined (exploration)
🔍 Tips: - You can use the OUT input to reset the IN input. - You can use your phone's camera to view the world around you or yourself through the magnifying glass. - Blow into your phone's microphone to blow bubbles. - Hold your phone upside down to refill the magnifying glass with soap.
⚙️ Other functions On/off: Turn the app on/off. We/I: Are you using the app for yourself or with others? You can also enter your name and date. Floppy disk icon: Save your settings and notes. You can also print your progress on paper.
[Discussion is possible about which features are available in the ''minimum viable'' and ''fully completed'' versions of the app.]
