Van Leenen required a platform he could use to administer his draughts (checkers) tournaments. Key functionality includes the ability to invite students, via their parents, and school administrators seeing and tracking the sign-up proccess of students in their school. A web app is developed to provide a portable interface, distinguishing between club administrators, school administrors, and participants. The latter of which are able to integrate their accounts with a Roblox draughts game. In the lead-up to the tournament, students are directed to this integrated platform for training.
Draughts should be as hot as chess.
Our client is the director of a draughts association in Den Helder, Maarten van Leenen. He has experience as a tournament organizer, ranging from larger, regional ones to local primary school tournaments in order to teach and excite kids about draughts.
His main goal is to increase the popularity of draughts. He already achieves this by organizing tournaments and providing lessons for children, but he aims to expand this initiative with our project, reaching a larger audience and making the process easier.
Our communication with him went very well, with consistent phone calls and messaging to make decisions about the development of the product.

Scrum master - Derek Smissaert Product owner - Emil Riedeman At first we divided the work during our meetings. Later on, after sprint 3, we used a randomized review pairing and for the actual issues, we assigned them manually based on our strengths. The main challenge that we managed to overcome was choosing the right amount of work for each sprint, which we eventually learned to balance. We are most proud of the fun we had with our project, and the teamwork.
